dr. Yvan Decreux

Dr. Yvan Decreux is since 2000 an economist at CEPII in Paris. He is in charge of the Mirage model. The Mirage model is a dynamic general equilibrium model of the world economy dedicated to trade policy analysis. It is shared with an increasing number of international teams, currently comprising IFPRI in Washington, ITC in Geneva, the Trinity College in Dublin, UNECA in Addis Abeba, the University Molise in Rome. The consortium will soon include the WTO and the EU DG Trade. Along with his research activity, his main task is to coordinate model improvements and diffusion. Before working with the Mirage Model he was active working on other sort like models for analysing trading and trading policies in the world.

Most of his recent teaching activity has been centred on CGE (Computable general equilibrium) modelling, this is a economic model that use actual economic data to estimate how an economy might react to changes in policy, technology or other external factors. In 2008 he gave a course on CGE modelling in Bordeaux and a presentation of the Mirage model at University Paris 1. In 2006 he gave a one week practical course on Mirage and MAcMap for professional economists and PhD students in Dublin. In 2005 and 2006 he also gave a course on CGE modelling for the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Économique (ENSAE) in Paris. In 2003-2004 he was a consultant in an EU project with Morocco, including some teaching on CGE modelling and some expert assistance for the construction of a model of the Moroccan economy, still in use today.

Before that he also taught CGE modelling for the Ecole Nationale d'Administration, the Institut Agronomique Méditerranéen de Montpellier and the Institut International d'Administration Publique. As a PhD student he gave undergraduate tutorials in macroeconomics, microeconomics, finance, mathematics and international economics.
