dr. Susanne Piët

Dr.Susanne Piet is psychologist and consultant for companies, institutions and organizations. Her field is communications, culture and emotions. Her dissertation about the human inclination to compete, to grow and to gain, to overcome danger, to calculate risk and to exceed existing limits was titled Het Loon van de Angst (the harvest of fear.). That work was the foundation for her specialisation in trendphilosophy, motivation and communication strategy. She has worked during ten years as a scientist both at the University of Amsterdam and the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. She furthermore taught (and still teaches) on invitation at several universities and in the creative domain: the School of Journalism, the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, the Academy for TV and film, in Amsterdam, Dasarts, school for theater makers in Amsterdam, the Fashion Institute AMFI in Amsterdam, the Design Academy in Eindhoven.

She participated or participates in boards of several cultural organizations, f.i. Foundation De Populier, Stichting Doen, (portfolio culture), Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam Committee Acquisitions, VPRO- member Council. She worked as a journalist, and made programs of radio and television, for instance a two years series literary programs for AVRO-television. She published more than a dozen books. One of her more recent books The Emotion Market has been awarded in 2004. Her book The Emocode has been shortlisted for the same award in 2007. She had been knighted by the queen, in the order of Oranje Nassau in 2003.

Susanne Piët worked for more than 20 years as a journalist for qualitypress as De Tijd, NRC-Handelsblad and Elseviers Weekblad. Her specialty was major interviews and her domain for columns was communication. She also made various radio and TV programs on topics including current affairs, culture, music and literature. She has made, directed television programs for AVRO-, NOS- and VARA-television and made the TV series "Het loon van de Angst" The harvest of Fear, for VPRO. She still writes columns and books. She performs and gives lectures on several subjects, such as trendphilosophy and experience society.

Work.
Since 1984 she also worked as a consultant. Her firm Adviesbureau dr. Susanne Piët B.V. active since 1988 specializes in the field of communication strategy and emotion management. It is based in Wapenveld the Netherlands, and Antwerpen Belgium.

As managing director she also runs her historic estate of 40 hectares Winfried in Wapenveld, and the Bertholee Publishing House. Dr.Susanne Piët presides the Foundation for Creativity and Innovation in Amsterdam, (Stichting Creativiteit & Innovatie).
