Saskia Peerdeman MD PhD

Dr. Saskia Peerdeman is a practicing neurosurgeon since 1994. She is currently working as a brain surgeon in the Neurosurgical Center Amsterdam (NCA location VUmc and AMC). Besides general neurosurgery she has three topics of interest. She specializes in surgery of brain tumors, especially skullbase tumors and meningioma. Within the Amsterdam region she chairs the Meningioma Group Amsterdam (MeGA). The goal of this group of more than 10 different disciplines is to collaborate on research to improve outcome of meningioma patients.

Another of her topics of interest is brain injury after accidents. She was a member of the executive board of the European Brain Injury Consortium (EBIC) from 2006-2011. As an experienced neurosurgeon she collaborates in the ALARM-TBI group (Amsterdam Lifeliner –traumatic brain injury). She participated in various medical publications on this subject.

Medical education and training of students and residents has her special interest. She in head of the training program of neurosurgical residents in the VU medical Center and developed the training program of neurosurgical residents in the Netherland. She chairs the central training committee of the VU medical center and the regional training committee concerning the training 27 different medical specialties in eight different hospitals.

She is an inspiring speaker and enjoys sharing her knowledge on these various subjects with any audience.
