Biography of Rijn Vogelaar
Author of ‘The Superpromoter’
Rijn Vogelaar is CEO of Blauw Research and author of ‘The Superpromoter’ which was first published in Dutch in august of 2009. In autumn of 2010 ‘The Superpromoter’ will be published in English and in German.
Rijn studied social psychology and methodology and is specialized in marketing and communication, market research, customer relations, branding, recommendation behaviour, social media and social networking in general. Rijn is an award winning speaker. Being a performing poet for many years he has a lot of experience on stage and most of the time he will add a little poetry to his business presentations as well.
Obviously one of Rijn’s favourite topics is the ‘superpromoter’. The Superpromoter personifies the power of enthusiasm. Superpromoters share their enthusiasm about products, brands and companies and influence other people by doing so. As true ambassadors they recommend products and/or their behaviour is copied by their peers. The infectious enthusiasm of these customers and employees are vital to the success of any business and public service. They are responsible for innovation, employees motivation and sales growth. They are ideal co-creators when you know how to harness their energies. Strangely enough most organizations suffer from superpromoter blindness. Managers (and actually all people) are unaware of our most important partners because we are programmed to focus on the negative. In his presentation Rijn describes a new school of thought on Marketing, Product Development and Management and he explains how any organization can become more successful by marshalling their superpromoters.
Another topic Rijn likes to speak about is social media. He is very active on Twitter and in his presentation he talks about his strange and wonderful adventures on Twitter accompanied with results of the research done by Blauw Research on the subject.
Rijn is a enthusiastic reader of books about management, marketing & business in general and provides presentations of 50 relevant books (Tipping Point, Blue Ocean, Good to Great, The Ultimate Question, Black Swan etc) and ties it all together.

"‘De Superpromoter’ by Rijn Vogelaar focuses on the people most companies take for granted. Moreover, in a lot of cases these companies are not even aware of these people. Because companies are too busy taking care of unsatisfied customers. People who expect unreasonable services and immediately spread the word when a company makes a mistake. A lot of books are written about how to handle these unsatisfied customers, how to improve customer services and how to control bad publicity. No doubt that they can be of help. But does it give a company new energy? Not really. Using the power of enthusiasm by superpromoters does. Not only will it drive sales in the end, but it will also bring positive energy to companies itself.
In that way this book is refreshing within its genre. Author Rijn Vogelaar made a huge effort in combining recent insights by marketing thought leaders to build up his story about enthusiasm. The book encourages and gives tools to start looking for superpromoters outside, but also within companies. But Vogelaar did not stop at that point. Next to writing the book he also launched a website with actual superpromoters telling their story in video and updates a blog with new material.
What makes it even more interesting is the fact that he’s also the CEO of a well respected research company that got voted ‘best marketing research agency of the year 2009’.
Here at selexyz we were very happy to add ‘ The Superpromoter’ to our assortment of management books. We are convinced that it will enthuse English readers –and therefore native bookstores- too. It’s a potential best-seller within its category overseas too."

"After reading the book you will definitely have an idea about the role of Superpromoters in the evolution of customer-oriented thinking. Also, you will miss out on different chances if you ignore the efforts of the sources of energy and inspiration which are called Superpromoters."

"The superpromoter and the ‘antipromoter’, turn out to be the most important invisible forces in making or breaking success. A huge potential which is so far hardly used in the industry. This is an impressive way of innovative thinking, which could possibly put the Netherlands internationally on the map within this field."
