Benedicte Berner

Benedicte Berner is a lecturer at Harvard University, Government Department, on Media, Democracy and Economics and a lecturer at l´Institut d´Etudes Politiques de Paris, School of Journalism, on Media and Democracy and Media and Ethics. She also gives seminars on Russia, Politics and Economics and on Russian Journalism.

Besides her teaching positions she is since 2003 the Vice President at the Swedish Helsinki Committee in Stockholm, which focuses on three types of programmes: The Rule of Law, Freedom of Expression and Non Discrimination in Russia, Ukraine, Bielorussia, Moldova, Central Asia and the Balkans. Also since 2003 she is a consultant at SIDA (Swedish International Development Agency) in Stockholm, where she gives consultancy on Gender and Media projects in Russia; workshops and training for media managers and journalist in cooperation with the Russian Union of Journalists and Russian universities and schools of journalism. She also trained journalists in the Middle east (Lebanon and Bahrein)

Benedicte Berner has published a large number of articles and reports in journals and other media instruments. Among others 'Dagens Nyheter', a major Swedish newspaper, published her item about the Human Rights situations in Chechnya, and a report for l´Université de Paris Sorbonne about Vladimir Poutine and the media from 1999 to 2006.
